Assertion :In a procedural modification of cobalt nitrate test,2-3 drops of nitric acid & 2-3 drops of cobalt nitrate solution are added to the residue of charcoal cavity. A thin strip of filter paper is dipped in the solution & burned in non-luminous part of the flame. Different cations give ash of characteristic colors. Reason: Ash test is done in a similar way.

Examples: Blue indicates Al+3
Green indicates Zn+2
Pinkish indicates Mg+2

Reason:
Ash test performed in similar way (wrong/false)
Ash test is used to detect the presence of filler.
