Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion.
Muscle cells are composed of muscle fibers or myocytes. These muscle fibers are in turn composed of many chains of myofibrils. Myofibril consists of long proteins such as actin, myosin and titin and other accessory proteins. Muscle contraction occurs due to contractile proteins which are present on myofibril. Cells of muscle tissues can shorten forcefully and again return to the relaxed state.
Hence the correct option is A.
