Solution
The correct option is C Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect.
The members of fungal class Myxomycetes are called slime moulds. Mode of nutrition in slime moulds is heterotrophic in which they engulf other microorganisms by phagocytosis. Euglena is known as plant animal as it shares characters of both plants and animals. It has mixotrophic mode of nutrition as it is both autotrophic and heterotrophic. It has chlorophyll and thus, under conditions of light, it performs photosynthesis. In absence of light conditions, it switch to heterotrophic mode of nutrition.
Hence assertion is correct.
Photosynthesis is shown by only Euglena not by slime moulds as Euglena has chlorophyll.
Hence, reason is incorrect.
So, the correct answer is 'Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect'.
