Starch is a important storage homopolysaccharide made up of glucose units. it is found in plant storage organs like endosperm of cereals and tubers of potato. Starch has straight chain or amylose part formed by α-1,4 linkage between pyranose glucose units and side chains or Amylopectin part that are attached to the straight chains by 1 --> 6 glycosidic linkages.
