The heart of a frog is myogenic in nature as it can contract without getting stimuli from the nerve cells. The contractions are initiated within the heart by specialised cardiac muscles known as nodal tissue. The heart beat is generated by pacemaker made up of cardiac muscles. This property of self- excitation causes the heart to beat in a moist condition outside the body for some time. The pacemaker cells maintains the rhythm of the heart.
