Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion.
Till the nerve ending the impulse travels in the form of a depolarisation wave but when the synapse comes the depolarisation wave cannot cross the synapse because there is some empty space the wave cannot travel across. In this situation, neurotransmitters are secreted which have receptors on the next nerve. These neurotransmitters regenerate a depolarization wave in the next neuron which carried the impulse forward.
The correct answer is 'both assertion and reason are correct and the reason is the correct explanation for assertion'.
