For car to overtake truck in time $t$ , distance travelled by car should be equal to travelled by truck.
$\frac{1}{2} \times 3.2 t^{2} = 20 \times t \Rightarrow t = \frac{40}{3.2} = \frac{400}{32} = \frac{25}{2}$ sec.
$∴$ distance $d$ from starting point $d = V t = 20 \times \frac{25}{2} = 250$ m.
