Write the fractions appropriately as additions or subtractions:
To find out the fraction a given figure represents we follow the steps given below:
(i) Identify the number equal parts in which the figure is divided
(ii) Number of parts that are coloured or shaded
The fraction that they represent = Number of parts colouredTotal number of equal parts
Hence, the above figures represent the fractions 55, 35 and 25 respectively.
Now, 55 > 25.
Therefore the fractions 35 will be subtracted from 55.
55−35=5−35=25
