Bacteria show anoxygenic photosynthesis. Why?

Water is not used as a source of reducing power during bacterial photosynthesis. They perform photosynthesis using sulfide, hydrogen or organic substrates which does not involve oxygen. Hence, bacteria show anoxygenic photosytnesis.
