•Blood is a red coloured fluid that consists of two parts:
1. Plasma-a liquid part
•Plasma is yellowish in colour.
•Most of it is water (about 90%) and the remaining 10% consist of dissolved nutrients, proteins, waste products, and hormones.
2. Corpuscles -The cellular part
•The corpuscles or blood cells are of 3 types- RBCs, WBCs, and Platelets.
• RBCs (erythrocytes) transport oxygen to the different parts of the body.
• WBCs (leukocytes) provide immunity to the body.
• Platelets (thrombocytes) help in the clotting of blood.
