Briefly describe nitrogen fixation with an example.

  1. Rhizobium converts atmospheric nitrogen into nitrates and stores in roots. Plants use this stored nitrates.
  2. Plants gives shelter to Rhizobium. They co-operate one another. Such a cooperation is called "symbiosis".
  3. Soil fertility increase in growing legume crops in the fields.
