Solution:
India and Pakistan relations are one of the most complex associations that India shares with any of its neighbouring countries. The two countries share linguistic, cultural, geographical and economic links but due to political and historical reasons, the two share a complex relation.
The first issue is the dispute over marking of the boundaries. The two countries have fought three wars. The first one was fought in 1948, the second in 1965 and the last one in 1971.
Two post war agreements and peace treaties have also been signed to make the relation between countries more peaceful. The Tashkent Agreement was signed in 1966 between Lal Bahadur Shrasti and the Pakistani head of state, Ayub Khan.
In 1972, the Shimla Agreement was signed in the presence of Indira Gandhi and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. India became a nuclear power in 1974 while Pakistan gained nuclear power in 1998.
India desires peaceful, friendly and cooperative relations with Pakistan, which requires an environment free from violence and terror.
