Solution

(A) Force of attraction in between the molecules of matter - (IV) intermolecular force

  • The intermolecular force of attraction is the force of attraction that exists between matter molecules. Solids have the most, liquids have the least, and gases have the least.

(B) Spaces in between the molecules of matter - (V) intermolecular spaces

  • Intermolecular spaces refer to the distance between matter molecules. Solids, liquids, and gases all have different intermolecular gaps. Solids have less intermolecular gaps than liquids, which have more, and gases have the most.

(C) Any material which occupies spaces and has mass - (I) matter

  • The matter is defined as everything that has mass and fills space. Anything that has mass and occupies space is defined as matter. Atoms are the building blocks of all stuff.

(D) A state of matter which is incompressible - (II) Solid

  • The solid state is one of the fundamental states of matter. Solid has a fixed shape and volume. Due to its rigid nature, particles in a solid can only vibrate about their mean position and cannot move. In solids, particles are tightly or closely packed. The gaps between the particles are tiny and hence it is tough to compress them.

(E) A state of matter which can have only one surface - (I) liquid.

  • The liquid is an incompressible liquid that takes on the shape of its container as well as the container into which it is poured. It keeps the same volume no matter how much is put into it, and it only exists in one free condition.
