Write the fractions appropriately as additions or subtractions:
To find out the fraction a given figure represents we follow the steps given below:
(i) Identify the number equal parts
(ii) Number of parts that are coloured or shaded
The fraction that they represent = Number of parts colouredTotal number of equal parts
Hence, the above figures represent the fractions 26, 36 and 56 respectively.
Now, 56 > 26 and 36.
Therefore 26 and 36 will be added.
26+36=2+36=56
