Question

Calculate the amount of oxygen that will be required for complete combustion of 2 moles of acetylene C2H2.
2C2H2+5O22CO2+2H2O

Open in App
Solution

Combustion of acetylene-
C2H2+52O22CO2+H2O
At STP,
1 mole of O2=22.4L
52 mole of O2=22.4×52=56L
Now, from the above equation-
Amount of oxygen required for the complete combustion of 1 mole of acetylene =56L
Therefore,
Amount of oxygen required for the complete combustion of 2 mole of acetylene =56×2=112L
Hence 112L of oxygen will be required for complete coombustion of 2 moles of Acetylene.
