Solution

The correct option is C ΔfH=174.0kJmol1
As given,
a. 2C4H10(g)+13O2(g)8CO2(g)+10H2O(l),ΔH1=5757.2kJ

b. C(s)+O2(g)CO2(g),ΔH2=405.4kJ
c. 2H2(g)+O2(g)2H2O(l),ΔH3=572.4kJ

Therefore, for given reaction
4C(s)+5H2(g)C4H10; ΔHf=?

ΔHf=4ΔH2+52ΔH312ΔH1

=4×(405.4)+52×(572.4)12(5757.2)

=1621.61431+2878.6

=3052.6+2878.6
=174 kJmol1
