Question

Calculate the molarity of 98% H2SO4 (d = 1.8 g/ml) by wt.

Open in App
Solution

% of Sulphuric Acid in solution = 98%
means 98g of H2SO4 is present in 100g solution.
Molar mass = 98 g/mole
No. of moles = 9898 = 1 mole ...(1)
Density of solution = 1.8g/cm3
Volume = 1001.8 (ml) ...(2)
Molarity = no.ofmolesofsolutevolumeofsolution
from (1) & (2)
Molarity = 1100×1.8×1000(in Lvolume)
=18M
