Question

Calculate the pH of a solution obtained by mixing 100mL of an acid of pH=3 and 400mL solution of pH=1.

Open in App
Solution

pH=3 means [H+]=103 and pH=1 means [H+]=0.1M
So M=M1×V1+M2×V2V
M=103×100+0.1×400500=0.08
[H+]=0.08
So pH=log([H+])=1.096
