Question

Calculate the power loss in an electric transmission cable15 km long, carrying a current of 100A at a potential of 200 kV. The resistance per km of the cable is 0.2 ohms

Open in App
Solution

I = 100 A

Cable of 1 km has resistance = 0.2 ohm

Cable of 15 km will have resistance = 0.2 * 15 = 3 ohm

Power loss = I2 * R = 1002 * 3 = 30000 Watt

Answer : 30000 Watt
