Question

Calculate the total number of potassium ions present in 2g of potassium chloride

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

Potassium chloride is KCl.

Molar mass = Atomic mass of K + atomic mass of Cl
Molar mass = 39 + 35 = 74g

74 g of KCl contains = 6.023 x 1023 ions of K.
1 g of KCl contains = 6.023 x 1023 / 74 ions of K.
2 g of KCl contains = (6.023 x 1023 x 2)/74 = 0.163 x 1023 ions of Potassium.
