Solution

The correct option is B 2.5L
According to ideal gas law, the volume occupied by 1 mole of a gas at NTP or STP is 22.4 liters.
Final moles of 5 liters of CO :
It 22.4 liters of CO is 1 mole
then 5 liters of CO=1×522.4=0.223 moles
The equation for the reaction of the oxidation of CO is
The mole ratio between CO and O2 in the equation is 2:1
The mole of 5L CO is 0.223 moles
mole ratio is 2:1. That means we need =0.2232=0.112
0.112 moles of oxygen to react with CO
Then 0.112 moles =0.112×22.4/1=2.5 litres
