Question

Can a body be in equilibrium if it is in motion?

Open in App
Solution

  1. According to the second law of motion, a body is said to be in equilibrium if the net force acting on it is equal to zero and also an acceleration in such bodies is zero.
  2. No acceleration means the body is moving with constant velocity. So an object with constant velocity will be in an equilibrium state.

Therefore, it is possible for a body to be in equilibrium even if it is in motion.
