  1. They are photosynthetic organisms.

  3. Example- red algae, green algae (Spirogyra, Ulothrix, Volvox), etc.
  4. Humans can eat and digest algae, eg. Spirulina, Nori, etc.
  5. Algae is rich in bioactive compounds like phycocyanin, carotenoids, etc.
  6. They are also rich sources of essential minerals like zinc, magnesium, folate, etc.
  7. Algae provides nine essential amino acids that are not synthesized by our body and are consumed from external sources.
