No, Lion is not a taxon.

Taxon is a taxonomic group which is assigned to any rank. That is the organisms are grouped into a taxon and are given a respective taxonomic rank. Each category into which organisms are classified such as kingdom, phylum etc is called taxa.

Hierarchy of classification of Lion.

Kingdom-Animalia.
Phylum-Chordata
Class-Mammalia.
Order-Carnivora.
Family-Felidae.
Genus-Panthera
Species-Leo
