Can non-metal conduct electricity? If yes, how? If, no why?
Generally, metals are the conductors of electricity because they have the ability to lose an electron and the electrons are the main reason for the flow of electricity but non-metals are generally receivers of electrons so they don't have free electrons that's why they are the insulators.
But there is a non-metal Graphite which is the only non-metal that can conduct electricity.
Graphite: Graphite is a crystalline form of carbon that is weakly linked in a layered hexagonal structure in which carbon is attached only by three sides while one valence electron is free to move because carbon has four valencies.
Graphite is used in a pencil and as a lubricant in a piece of machinery.
