Question

Can sedimentation and decantation be used to separate a mixture of salt and water ?

Open in App
Solution

Sedimentation cannot be used to differentiate between water and salt in a mixture because salt readily dissolves in water and cannot be visible to the naked eye.

Decantation is another process of separating different elements in mixture.

Hence, differentiation of the elements in the mixture cannot be achieved in decantation, too.

Hope this helps :)
