Question

Can vapour pressure be greater than 1atmosphere?

Open in App
Solution

Vapour pressure:

  1. Vapour pressure is the pressure exerted by a vapour in its condensed phase in a closed system at room temperature.
  2. If vapour pressure becomes 1atmosphere then the boiling point of water will also increase.
  3. As 1atmosphere is the atmospheric pressure so the molecules of water will require a higher amount of kinetic energy to escape from the surface of boiling water.
