Solution

(a) V1= 0.4 L

T1= 17°C = 273+17 = 290Kelvin

T2=?

V2=Double of V1=0.4*2= 0.8 L

V1/T1=V2/T2

0.4/290=0.8/T2

T2=0.8*290/0.4

T2= 2*290

T2=580 K

T2 = 580-273 ( to convert kelvin into celcious)

T2= 307°C

(b)

V1= 0.4 L

T1= 17°C = 273+17 = 290Kelvin

T2=?

V2=half of V1 =0.4/2 = 0.2L

V1/T1 = V2/T2

0.4/290 = 0.2/T2

T2=0.2*290/0.4

T2=145K

T2=145-273 -To convert kelvin in celcius

T2=-128°C
