Substituting $x = 1, y = 7$ in $5 x - 9 y + 2$
$5 (1) - 9 (7) + 2 = 5 - 63 + 2 = - 56$
$L H S = - 56$ and $R H S = 0$
Hence $(1, 7)$ does not lie on $5 x - 9 y + 2 = 0$
