Solution

The correct option is B

Two

Statements i and iii are correct and ii and iv are incorrect.

The tropics receive the highest percentage of sunlight throughout the year and with the excessive rainfall, provides ideal growing conditions for luxuriant vegetation.

The higher latitudes have been subjected to many glaciations, that is the process of being covered in glaciers. Many such glaciations, leading to mass extinctions have affected these regions, but the tropics have stayed relatively constant over aeons, making tropical rainforest the oldest biome in the planet and lead to speciation which is a function of time. The tropics may have accumulated a greater diversity over this long period, while other regions having faced many extinctions.
