LH and FSH stimulate gonadal activity and hence are called gonadotropin. In males, LH stimulates the synthesis and secretion of the hormone called androgens from testis. In females, FSH induces ovulation of fully mature follicles and maintain the corpus luteum. FSH stimulates growth and development of the ovarian follicles in females.
