Solution

The correct option is A a - Final level, b - Dot pin, c - Initial level, d - Sugar solution, e - Potato tuber
Osmosis in living plant can be demonstrated using potato osmoscope. It is also called as potato osmometer. In this, potato tuber is used. On the upper end of the potato, a cavity is made. Strong sugar solution is added into this cavity. Using a dot pin, the initial level is marked. The whole set up is then placed in a beaker containing colored water. After a few hours, the sugar solution rises within the potato tuber and becomes colored due to osmosis. The water molecules moves from lower concentration solution to the higher concentration solution through a semi-permeable membrane, potato cell.
Thus, the correct answer is option A.
