The correct option is B I : Poliomyelitis, II : Virus, III : Helminth worm, IV : Swelling of limbs
A disease is considered to be a disorder in the structure or functioning of any part of an organism’s body which is likely to manifest in the form of different signs and symptoms. Infectious diseases are caused due to organisms (pathogens) that can spread from one person to another. Based on the pathogen diseases can be viral, bacterial, protozoan, helminthic, etc.

Poliomyelitis, commonly known as polio, is a viral disease that affects the spinal cord of the infected person, thus leading to paralysis, i.e, the inability to move body parts. The virus causing the disease is known as the poliovirus and can spread through direct contact, inhalation of droplets of cough or sneeze of the infected person, etc. Patients might develop meningitis (infection of the membranes covering the brain or spinal cord) and paralysis of muscles.

Rabies is a deadly disease caused by the Rabies virus which can spread to humans or animals through the bite of an infected animal as the virus resides in its saliva. The symptoms start appearing when the virus reaches the brain and starts causing considerable damage. As the disease progresses, acute symptoms of brain damage such as hallucinations (seeing things which are not real), hydrophobia (fear of water), insomnia (inability to sleep) etc., start appearing.

Elephantiasis or filariasis is a disease caused by the helminth worm, Wuchereria bancrofti. The worms invade and live for many years in the lymphatic vessels of the limbs, leading to chronic inflammation and swelling of the limbs. The genital organs might also be infected, resulting in major deformities.

Malaria is a mosquito borne protozoan disease caused by Plasmodium. It affects the human liver cells and red blood cells. The common symptoms include recurring fever, chills, bodyache, etc.

Tetanus is a bacterial disease caused by the bacterium Clostridium tetani. The bacteria releases a toxin that affects the motor nerves (carry impulses from the brain or spinal cord to muscles). The most common symptoms include the locking of the muscles of the jaw and neck, uncontrolled muscular spasms, etc.

Mumps is a viral disease caused by a Paramyxovirus which is a member of the Rubulavirus family. The disease is characterised by the swelling of the parotid salivary glands near the ears.

Dry skin lesion is a common symptom of the fungal infection called ringworm. The fungi belonging to the genera Trichophyton, Microsporum and Epidermophyton are responsible for causing such lesions.
