Solution

The correct option is B

Only statement 1 is correct

The cell theory was proposed by Matthias Schleiden (1838) and Theodor Schwann (1839). It states that all living organisms are made up of cells. The cell theory was further expanded by Virchow (1855). He suggested that all cells come from pre-existing cells. To summarise, the postulates of the cell theory are as follows:
1. All living things are made up of cells.
2. A cell is the smallest unit in a living thing that can perform all the functions of life.
3. All cells come from pre-existing cells.
The cell wall is unique to bacterial, fungal and plant cells. Animal cells do not possess a cell wall.
