Given:​ Initial volume of the glycerine, 0.2 m3 Rise in temperature, ΔT=30 C Coefficient of cubic expansion, γ=49 ×10 5 C1 We need to check if the value of change in volume of the glycerine, ΔV is 2.94×103m3. Using, γ=(ΔV)/(V0×ΔT) ΔV=γ×V0×ΔT=49×105×0.2×30=2.94×103m3 Therefore statement 1 is correct. When the liquid is heated, it expands. Its volume increases by an appreciable amount and there is considerable decrease in its density. Therefore statement 2 is incorrect.
