Choose the correct statements regarding prostate gland.
Prostate gland secretes alkaline fluid that neutralizes the acidic vaginal secretions - this is very important as sperms are more viable in an alkaline environment. The prostate secretion also provides clotting enzymes which act on fibrinogen produced by the seminal vesicles to produce fibrin, which “clots” the semen, thus helping keep the ejaculated sperm in the female reproductive tract during withdrawal of penis. The prostate does not directly empty its secretions into the urethra, but rather into the ejaculatory duct, which then meets the urethra.
