Solution

The correct option is C Adenylic acid is a nucleoside
Nucleic acids belongs to a class of biomacromolecules that are made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and phosphorus. It is a polymer of repeating units called nucleotides.

Nucleotides are made up of phosphate groups, the pentose sugars (ribose/deoxyribose) and the nucleobases (nitrogenous base).

The base components of nucleic acids are heterocyclic compounds with rings containing carbon and nitrogen. They could be of two types - purines or pyrimidines.

Adenine and guanine are purines, which contain a pair of fused rings; cytosine, thymine, and uracil are pyrimidines, which contain a single ring.

Cellular organisms are divided in two groups known as prokaryotes and eukaryotes. The genetic material is always deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). DNA is arranged into structures called chromosomes. Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is the genetic material only in certain viruses which are acellular organisms.

Adenosine monophosphate (AMP) is a nucleotide which is also known as 5'- adenylic acid. AMP consists of a phosphate group, the sugar ribose, and the nucleobase (nitogenous base) adenine.

Cytidine is a pyrimidine nucleoside comprised of a cytosine (nitrogenous base) bound to ribose sugar via a beta-N1-glycosidic bond (bond between nitrogen of pyrimidine or purine with carbon of ribose/deoxyribose sugar).
