Classify acids on the basis of their basicity and explain each of them with examples.
On the basis of their basicity, acids are classified as monobasic, dibasic and tribasic acids.
Monobasic Acid: - It is an acid which dissociates to give one hydrogen ion per molecule in a solution.
E.g. HCl, HNO3.
Dibasic Acid: - It is an acid which dissociates to give two hydrogen ions per molecule in a solution.
E.g. H2SO4,H2CO3.
Tribasic Acid: -It is an acid which dissociates to give three hydrogen ions per molecule in a solution.
E.g. H3PO4.
