On the basis of sources, acids are classified as: organic acids and inorganic acids.

Organic Acids: - Acids present in plants and animals (living things) are called as organic acids.

Eg. HCOOH, CH3COOH (Weak acids).

Inorganic Acids: - Acids found in rocks and minerals are called as inorganic acids or mineral acids.

Eg. HCl, HNO3,H2SO4 (Strong acids).
