The agricultural practices prevalent in India prior to and mid 1960s were backward and slow. Primitive methods of farming were prevalent which were mainly done with bullocks and the irrigation system too was not developed enough to produce more crops.
In the late 1960's arevolution came in the agricultural practises in India with the Green Revolution. New farming practises were introduced.HYV seeds were used which served as a boon to agriculture. It increased production of crops. Improved chemical fertilisers and pesticides have been used and irrigation system also developed. Bullocks were replaced by tractors and Persian wheels were replaced by tube wells.
