Question

Compare three states of matter in terms of density.

Open in App
Solution

  1. The density, of a substance is its mass per unit volume.
  2. The molecules of a solid are tightly packed. So, they have high density.
  3. The particles in liquids are not closely packed as in case of solids. Thus liquids generally have lower density than solids.
  4. The molecules of a gas are loosely packed. Consequently, gases are much lesser dense than solid & liquid.
