Question

Complete the following equations:

ZnSO4+2NaOHNa2SO4+______

Open in App
Solution

  • When Sodium hydroxide NaOH reacts with Zinc sulfate ZnSO4, a white-colored precipitate of zinc hydroxide ZnOH2 is formed along with sodium sulfate. The skeleton reaction is as follows

ZnSO4aq+NaOHaqNa2SO4aq+ZnOH2

  • There are 2 sodium Na atoms on the product side, while on the reactant side, there is 1only. To balance the sodium atom, a coefficient of 2 must be added in front of NaOH. Through this, all the atoms in the reaction become balanced.
  • The balanced reaction is given as follows:

ZnSO4aq+2NaOHaqNa2SO4aq+ZnOH2

Therefore, the complete equation is ZnSO4+2NaOHNa2SO4+ZnOH2.
