A couple can only be said to be suffering from infertility when they have had at least a year of unprotected and regular intercourse despite which they have failed to conceive. An example of this would be males with untreated cryptorchidism in whom spermatogenesis does not take place. The males are sterile because of the condition and the couple will not be concieve. The females may still be fertile and can produce offsprings.
