The stratosphere continues from 10 km to about 50 km. Most atmospheric ozone is concentrated in a layer in the stratosphere, about 15-30 kilometers above the Earth's surface. This ozone layer in the Earth’s stratosphere absorbs most of the Sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation that may cause skin cancer. Stratospheric Ozone is not harmful, but its presence on land is harmful.
