The correct option is B Both 1 and 2
The Vice-President is elected by an electoral college consisting of members of both the Houses of Parliament. This electoral college is different from the electoral college for the election of the President in two aspects:
a) It does not consist of both elected and nominated members of Parliament, and
b) It doe not include the members of the State legislative assemblies.
The Constitution does not provide who is to discharge the functions and duties of Vice-President during the period of vacancy. The Constitution only provides the time of holding an election to fill the vacancy in the office of vice-president and the term of office of a person elected to fill the casual vacancy.
