Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) was set up in July, 2003. It has been given statutory status in 2013. Subsequently its powers have been enhanced substantially. The main function of SFIO is to investigate corporate frauds of serious and complex nature. It does not investigate the cases of the political parties.
