Open in App
Solution
Food chain:
A food chain represents a group of organisms in which there is a transfer of food energy through a series of repeated eating and being eaten.
A food chain is of three types-grazing, detritus, and parasitic.
A grazing food chain is called a predator chain because predation occurs at every step.

Producers
They are the first trophic level of the food chain.
They trap solar energy from which they obtain carbon from carbon dioxide and consequently can make carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
All the producers are plants.
Herbivores
They are the animals that feed on plants and plant-like products.
Examples are grasshoppers, insects, deer, etc.
Primary carnivores
They prey upon herbivorous animals.
Examples are wild cats, foxes, tigers, etc.
