Construct a triangle ABC, in which AB = 4.5 cm, AC = 5.5 cm and ∠BAC = 75°.

Solution

Steps of construction:

(1) Draw a sufficiently long line segment using a ruler.

(2) Locate points A and B on it such that AB = 4.5 cm.

(3) Construct a sufficiently long line segment AM at point A such that ∠BAC = 75°.

(4) With A as the centre and radius 5.5 cm, draw an arc that cuts AM at C.

(5) Join BC.

Then, ABC is the required triangle.
