2. From B, draw a ray BX which makes an angle of $120^{\circ}$ with BC.
3. Cut a line segment BD equal to AB + AC = 9 cm on ray BX.
4. Join CD. Construct perpendicular bisector of CD. Let perpendicular bisector of CD meet BD at A.
5. Join AC. Triangle ABC is the required triangle.
