Question

Construct a triangle ABC in which BC is 5 cm, Angle B is 60 and AB+AC=10cm. What type of triangle is this?

Open in App
Solution

Steps- -Draw line segment BC of length 5 cm using a ruler. From B using a protractor, draw ray BX which makes an angle of 75 with BC.

-Cut a line segment BD equal to AB+AC=10 cm from ray BX.

-Join CD. Measure the value of angle BDC using a protractor.

-Using protractor draw ray CY at C which makes same angle with CD as angle ADC.

-Let the ray CY meet BD at A. Triangle ABC is the required triangle.

-From inspection it can be observed that this triangle is an equilateral triangle.
